These are early designs for a Farscape fan fiction comic book that I am
currently working on. The idea is to stay away from the style that the Wildstorm issue used,
where it looks as though the artist simply traced over pre-existing photos, and to really try
to bring out the alien-ness in the characters. This is a really daunting process, because
there must be a balance between human actor in makeup and pure alien. If you lean too far
either way, you get renderings that are either too portrait in their likeness (as these images
are) or they become too cartoonish and the characters become unrecognizable. |
