Performance of the Week:
Ben Browder: No doubt about it, Ben Browder turned in an outstanding performance. The scene in the bar with his dying "mother" was so terribly powerful that it left me with the feeling that something awful had happened in my own life. Mr. Browder's ability to portray a man who knows his sanity is slipping away from him and is unable to stop it is amazing.
Quote of the Week:
Crichton: "I don't know who I am anymore."
Scorpius: "Rest assured, I'll be with you always, keeping you safe."

Won't Get Fooled Again

During the first minute of the show we re-watch scenes of John being shot into space and entering the infamous wormhole. He wakes up with his dad in a hospital room, knowing that this can't be real, and suspecting that it's all another aliens-messing-with-his-mind thing. We find out how close to the edge Crichton has come through a series of interactions with his friends and enemies from the Uncharted Territories, sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreakingly sad, but always bizarre. Scorpius drops in to tell John that he must not let himself be driven insane by the Scarran, who's grubbing through his mind with some sort of industrial strength Aurora device, trying to find what he (Scorpy) is so interested in. Scorpius explains that he's taken up residence in John's mind by means of a chip he planted during John's nightmare-like days in the Aurora Chair. Once John has killed the Scarran, all awareness of this chip is wiped from his memory.

I believe that this episode is too strong for "like" or "dislike." It was a look into the subconscious of another person that no one should ever see. We all have muck buried in the back of our minds, but most of us don't broadcast it on satellite television. (I do think, though, that John might have seen The Wizard of Oz a few too many times). Won't Get Fooled Again let the audience in on why Scorpius has been popping up in John's pseudo-reality since the end of last season, but thanks to Scorpy's delete button, John still won't have a clue.
