Zhaan as the Pirate Arala in Liars, Guns and Money

(Thanks to AdobeFreak for the image)

Zhaan was with Farscape from the beginning until she gave her life for her friends during Season Three's Self Inflicted Wounds.part 2: Wait for the Wheel

Virginia Hey in real life

Before her untimely death at the age of 812, Zhaan was a Delvian Pa'u (priest) who worked to attain spirituality through the Delvian Seek.

Zhaan was originally going to be a man, but once they switched
over to a woman, this is one of the first designs they came up with.

The spirit of Zhaan lives on in...

...an action figure

COSTUMES

Zhaan's costume from the Season Two episode The Way We Weren't

...a trading card

Zhaan's costumes are generally soft and gauzy. Originally the idea was that her looks would be a contrast for D'Argo because they were going to be playing a lot of scenes together.

...and a magazine cover

CONCEPT ARTWORK

One of the early concept drawings for Zhaan. In the beginning Zhaan was supposed to be a man, a sort of Buddha-like character. One thought was that he would be computer-generated rather than live.

A few too many photogasms there, Zhaan?

(Thanks to Amy for the Professor Zhaan image)

These concept drawings look a bit more like Zhaan.

Before she became Zhaan, one of the roles Virginia played was Warrior Woman in Mad Max: The Road Warrior.

MAKEUP

Zhaan and a few of her closest friends, left to right: Tahleen (Kate Raison), Hasko (Michael Beckley), make up designer Leslie Vanderwalt, Lorana (Darlene Vogel) and Zhaan. From Rhapsody in Blue. Image courtesy of Virginia Hey's website.

The new Warrior Woman action figure.

Parts of Zhaan's ears are the only prosthetics she has. The rest of the Delvian's appearance comes from makeup.

And last of all, an alter ego
